STROCZECH and World Brain Week

On Saturday, 11 March, European Brain Day was celebrated to launch the World Brain Week festival. On this occasion, we would like to commemorate the National Ict Research Network STROCZECH, the first field-oriented network of CZECRIN. STROCZECH is dedicated to stroke research, with the ambition of building a strong infrastructure with the potential to conduct national and international clinical trials in patients with this disease, thus promoting the Czech Republic as a country with strong scientific potential in clinical research.

STROCZECH in numbers
In the three years of its existence (STROCZECH was established in January 2020), it has built a network of 24 centres involving 9 clinical trials (6 original and 3 international). Data collection for 5 clinical trials has been completed, 4 new clinical trials have been initiated and the same number are currently underway. A further 6 projects are currently in the preparatory phase.

World Brain Week
The European Brain Day is the first day of the World Brain Week celebrations, which start around 11 March each year. The World Brain Awareness Week festival is celebrated practically worldwide and in the Czech Republic it is organised under the auspices of the Czech Academy of Sciences. How does pain arise? How do we learn? What and why do we remember? Answers to these questions will be provided by lectures, workshops, exhibitions and other events prepared by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic for the public. In four cities of the Czech Republic – Prague, Hradec Králové, Olomouc and Ostrava – people can attend lectures, talks, workshops or exhibitions or play games and try virtual reality.
