CZECRIN Academy launches lectures for students of the University of the Third Age

This autumn, the portfolio of CZECRIN Academy’s educational activities will be expanded by an educational lecture block for the University of the Third Age. The first lecture on patient-oriented Clinical Research will take place on Friday, 6 October at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and will launch a series of lectures in this branch of medicine.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer an interesting lecture block also to the participants of the University of the Third Age, focused on pharmacotherapy, drug safety, but also the specifics of treatment in the elderly. Participants will learn about the opportunities to become actively involved not only in the treatment itself, but also in drug development and research from the position of an educated member of the general public.” says the guarantor of the lecture block, Dr Lenka Součková from CZECRIN.

First lecture: Patient-oriented clinical research | October 6 | 10-11:30 AM

The lecture will explain what is behind the discovery of a new drug, what are the phases of development of clinical trials. The difference between commercial clinical research and patient-oriented research will be discussed with specific examples of clinical trials. The basic principles of drug testing will be discussed and special attention will be paid to drug safety and adverse drug reactions. The lecture will include an introduction to the different ways in which one can get involved in research. The CZECRIN Large Research Infrastructure, which helps physicians to conduct their own clinical research, will be presented.
