DONETs form a nationwide network of clinical and academic sites across the Czech Republic. The network includes teaching hospitals, universities, research institutes and regional hospitals that jointly implement and support clinical research.

This network enables the effective sharing of expertise, infrastructure and administrative capacity and ensures that research projects can be developed and conducted in accordance with common methodological and regulatory procedures.

Clinical Trial Units (CTUs) form the basic administrative and coordination network of clinical research in the Czech Republic.
They operate within the clinical research or science and research departments of healthcare institutions and provide communication between research teams, hospital management and the national CZECRIN infrastructure.

CTU units provide comprehensive administrative and organizational support for the preparation and implementation of clinical trials.
Their activities include:

• Ensuring internal approval processes (e.g. approval of the collaboration or the study sponsor),
• cooperation in the preparation of study documentation (informed consents, protocols, etc.),
• coordination of ethical and regulatory processes,
• contractual support (contracts, amendments, legal documents),
• monitoring, reporting and administration of grants,
• and communication between research teams, hospitals and CZECRIN.

CTU units thus ensure that projects within DONET and CZECRIN are administratively feasible, legally sound, transparently managed and effectively coordinated.
