What does the journey of a patient with a rare disease look like—from the first symptoms through diagnosis to treatment itself? Who are all the people involved along the way, and why is the proper exchange of information crucial at every stage? Join us at this year’s Science Night and, together with the CREATIC Center of Excellence at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, take a look into the world of modern medicine, clinical research, and new treatment options.
🔎 In Search of Hope: When Communication Paves the Way to Treatment
What happens when medicine, cutting-edge research, and patient care come together? At our booth, you’ll learn what we do at the CREATIC Center of Excellence at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, what role the Czech National Infrastructure for Clinical Research (CZECRIN) plays in clinical research, and what it takes to safely translate new scientific findings into new treatment options for patients.
Behind every new treatment option lies the collaboration of many people. When patients’ experiences, doctors’ knowledge, researchers’ work, and the day-to-day care of patients come together, new discoveries and innovations can truly help individual patients. 🤝
You’ll also learn how cells from our bodies can help with wound healing, for example; why cell and gene therapies are an important part of modern medicine; and what all has to happen before a new treatment approach can reach a patient.

🧬 What can you expect at the CREATIC LF MU booth?
- In Search of Hope – Try out this interactive team maze, where you’ll follow the journey of a patient with a rare disease. You’ll navigate your way from the first symptoms through diagnosis to treatment options, making decisions, working with information, and avoiding dead ends. Along the way, you’ll discover how important communication, accurate information, and collaboration are.
- When sight fails, touch takes over —can you identify important laboratory equipment using only your sense of touch? Try this fun activity that will give you a slightly different perspective on the scientific laboratory environment.
- ASGENT Exhibition – Learn more about rare diseases and their current and future treatment options. You’ll also discover how the ASGENT Gene Therapy Association raises public awareness of this topic and supports patients in their efforts to improve access to innovative treatments.
More about ASGENT - Lecture: From Cells to the Patient: Communication on the Path to Modern Treatment – Discover how the cells in our bodies communicate with each other and use signals to regulate immune responses, and how disruptions in these signals may be linked to the development of disease. You’ll also gain insight into situations where the accurate and clear exchange of information between the patient, their family, doctors, researchers, and other experts is essential. You’ll learn what role collaboration plays in the search for gene or cell therapy options and why new treatment approaches emerge thanks to the integration of many disciplines.
