TRANSVAC2 is a follow-up project of the European TRANSVAC network for research and development of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines, funded under FP7. The TRANSVAC2 consortium includes leading European institutions and aims to establish a fully operational and sustainable European infrastructure for vaccine research and development. TRANSVAC2 supports innovation for both prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine development based on a comprehensive disease-focused approach, optimising the experience and expertise gained during the development of human and animal vaccines. This is achieved through a translational approach, fostering collaboration between public institutions in Europe and industrial partners. TRANSVAC2 complements and integrates with existing European research infrastructures in the public and private sectors. This will contribute to the development of effective products addressing European and global health challenges, burden management and the spread of infectious diseases.
