International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD) 2026

International Clinical Trials Day 2026: Stronger Together – Advanced therapy clinical trials without borders

In 2026, CZECRIN will become a co-organiser of the International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD), an annual conference organised by ECRIN. The conference will take place on Wednesday 20 May 2026 in Prague and will bear the name:

Stronger Together: advanced therapy clinical trials without borders

ICTD is a traditional platform for bringing together patients, clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, regulatory authorities, health policy makers and the wider professional community from across Europe and beyond. The aim is to discuss together key topics in multinational clinical trials and share experiences across countries and disciplines.

Why International Clinical Trials Day?

International Clinical Trials Day commemorates the launch of a groundbreaking clinical trial led by James Lind, which began on 20 May 1747 and laid the foundations for modern clinical research. Since 2005, ECRIN has commemorated this date each year with a conference focused on a current clinical research challenge.

ICTD 2026 theme

The year 2026 will focus on clinical trials of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and how to efficiently conduct these highly complex studies without borders – across countries, regulatory systems and healthcare infrastructures. This is where international collaboration is proving to be not just an advantage, but a necessity.

Prague as a meeting place

The ICTD 2026 conference will take place in Prague and its co-organization by CZECRIN underlines the active role of the Czech Republic in European clinical research and international research networks.
