We’re spending the whole day today in Ostrava at the AdvanceMed 2025 conference, organized by Associate Professor Ondrej Volny of the Ostrava University Hospital and Petr Salomon of SANOPHARM CZ, s.r.o., which bridges the gap between medicine and cutting-edge technologies —from artificial intelligence and robotics to VR. We’re delighted to be part of this exceptional program, featuring more than 40 speakers from prestigious institutions, and to be able to actively contribute ourselves, thanks to the wonderful Lenka Součková!
In one breath, CZECRIN presented the use of AI in the preparation, initiation, and conduct of clinical trials, and in the next, MUNI | CREATIC – The Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University explained how innovation centers can truly transform healthcare—not through virtual visions, but in concrete practice.
🔍 There were a number of inspiring presentations, including a speech by Jan Kavalirek, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, who highlighted the key objectives of the Czech Republic’s new National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030: (https://lnkd.in/e5xPZHBH). The strategy identifies healthcare as one of the main areas where artificial intelligence has the potential to significantly improve the accessibility, efficiency, and quality of care.
Another excellent example of the practical application of modern technologies was the lecture by Petr Jaššo (“The Limits of Adult Education, or the Modern Ambulance Service”). The Moravian-Silesian Region Emergency Medical Service uses VR and AI to create extremely realistic training scenarios—so today, paramedics train for interventions in simulated fires, active attacks, or mass casualty incidents. Virtual patients have their own medical records, ages, and injuries—and the team must respond correctly during the intervention. Thanks to VR, it’s possible to replay the scenario and evaluate what could have been done better. The result is training that resembles a first-person film more than computer animation. And most importantly, it works.
Overall, we heard a large number of very interesting presentations and discussions. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
AdvanceMed is thus not only an international networking platform, but also proof that the Czech Republic has the strategy, the will, and the people capable of implementing AI where it has the greatest impact—for example, in healthcare.
