Proceedings of the Annual Scientific Conference of the National Research Ict Network STROCZECH

On Friday 8 September, the first Annual Scientific Conference of the National Research Ict Network STROCZECH,
which currently connects 24 ict centres across the Czech Republic and is part of the CZECRIN infrastructure, took place at the T. Bata Regional Hospital in Zlín.

The conference also published a collection of abstracts, which can be viewed here.

The aim of the Annual Scientific Conference was to acquaint the participants with the current developments within the STROCZECH network, to summarize the achievements to date and to enable discussion on the implemented and planned projects. For this purpose, more than 40 physicians and researchers involved in the preparation and implementation of academic clinical trials within the STROCZECH network gathered at the hospital in Zlín.

In the first part of the conference, the results of the academic clinical trials conducted within the STROCZECH network, which were completed in the last year, were presented. These clinical trials, which focused on the diagnosis, acute treatment and secondary prevention of stroke, provide evidence-based data that may influence future practices that are currently established as the standard of care for stroke patients.

In the afternoon sessions of the conference, projects, both original and international, were presented. Guests of the conference were also representatives of the preclinical research cluster STROKE Brno, the largest consortium in Central and Eastern Europe, who pointed out the pitfalls of research in laboratory conditions and presented the latest findings, and a representative of the Health Management Institute, who presented the global educational campaign Heroes of FAST, implemented in 37 countries around the world aimed at raising awareness of the symptoms of stroke.
